The past month or so we have been making progress on the backyard.... making it shall we say a little more family-friendly :)
Below is a picture of the main section we have been working on. The concrete "cobblestone" chunks may LOOK nice but after many skinned little boy knees and a mommy who almost broke her toe we decided we needed to do something. And although the rose garden looked beautiful we really wanted to have more grass for our little boys to run around in.
First we pulled all the concrete chunks out....
Including the pathway to the garage side door...
Then with the help of brother-in-law Desi, with Solid Foundations, we prepped for pouring a new concrete patio. And let me tell you, there was a VERY excited 4 year old anticipating this day when the concrete truck was going to back into his driveway!

Treston wanted in on the action and brought his wheel-barrel up to the truck and of course we couldn't say no...
And dumping out the concrete.... SUCH A BIG HELPER!
We had some extra concrete so we decided to make stepping stones and had the boys each put their hand prints in a stone...
The last step is to seal the concrete which will give it a nice glossy finish. We are SO happy to have a nice solid patio and walkway. Now its time to plant some grass :)

Oh how sweet it is!! Love your project and so very thankful for no more cobblestone accidents (aren't you too!) Cute, cute pics - memories are priceless!

Wow, you guys. This looks fantastic! I wonder if Treston would have helped us, if ours would have turned out better. So cute. Can't wait to see it in person.

But the thing in reading this and looking at all the pictures that gives me a teary smile is how sweet your family is! I love the way you included you boys, that grandpa was there to help and that you all enjoy one another so much. What a blessing.
You do such a good job cherishing your boys, you are a good momma!
